From Our Organic FieldsThe many thousands of lavender plants we cultivate at our Washington State farm are ready for distillation at the end of summer when the flowers are heavy with essential oil. Each plant is harvested by hand to ensure none of the fragrant blossoms are wasted. We cultivate the variety Lavandula x intermedia “Grosso” en masse in our organically certified fields for our essential oil distillation. 
Inside Our Farm DistilleryWe use the ancient process of steam distillation to extract the pure essential oil from the flowers. It takes approximately 1 mature lavender plant to produce 1 fl oz of essential oil. This is why pure essential oils are more expensive that their oft-diluted counterparts. Conversely, pure essential oils, being so potent, are used in very small quantities for any particular application. 
Everyday UsesPure lavender essential oil is one of the few essential oils that can be used directly on the skin. As a topical pain reliever and antiseptic, apply a few drops to treat cuts, burns, abrasions, insects bites and stings. Dab a drop on the upper lip at bedtime as a soothing sleep inducer. Rub a few drops into the temples or add to a bath as a headache and stress reducer. Wear it as a perfume with the added benefit of a natural insect repellant for both humans and pets.
